Pharmacy Sales Assistant

Description:

At Costco plays a crucial role in Assists pharmacist with processing, pricing and selling prescriptions to customers. Assists customers at counter, retrieves prescriptions, rings up orders. Orders and stocks drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers in person or over the phone. Answer inquiries about prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and other pharmacy products.
• Assist pharmacists in processing new prescriptions and refills, including verifying insurance information, entering data into the pharmacy system accurately, and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
• Assist in managing pharmacy inventory by stocking shelves, monitoring stock levels, and organizing medication storage areas. This may involve rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and ordering supplies as needed.
• Handle billing and payment transactions, including processing insurance claims, collecting co-payments, and reconciling payments. Ensure accuracy in billing procedures and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Assist in preparing medication orders by counting, measuring, and packaging medications accurately. This may involve filling prescriptions, labeling bottles, and organizing prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
• Maintain accurate records of prescription orders, transactions, and patient information. Ensure confidentiality of patient records and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Adhere to pharmacy regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws governing pharmacy operations. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Provide administrative support to the pharmacy team, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and assisting with paperwork as needed.
